Tunisia-Italy Power Interconnector

OCEAN-RENDER has been involved in the feasibility studies of the Elmed Mediterranean (Italy-Tunisia) interconnector, which is a proposed 600 MW undersea high-voltage direct current (HVDC) interconnector that will link Tunisia’s electricity/power grid to the much larger European network via Italy.

The works has being carried out by RINA S.p.A., an Italian company that provides a wide range of services across the Energy, Marine, Certification, Transport & Infrastructure and Industry sectors, in a joint venture (JV) with Comete, a Tunisian consulting and multi-disciplinary engineering firm operating in the areas of building, infrastructure, transportation, planning, and environment. OCEAN-RENDER acted as a subcontractor of Comete Engineering, which is a subsidiary of RINA Consulting.

SMW-6 Submarine Cable System

The SEA-ME-WE 6 (South East Asia-Middle East-West Europe 6, or SMW6) is a 19,200km submarine cable system from Southeast Asia to West Europe, crossing Egypt through terrestrial cables.
The SMW6 cable system consists of 10 fiber pairs, with 12.6Tbps per fiber pair and 126Tbps system capacity, using the latest SDM technology, cost approximately US$500million.
SMW6 consortium includes Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company, Bharti Airtel Ltd. (India) Dhiraagu (Maldives), Djibouti Telecom, Mobily (Saudi Arabia), Orange (France), Singtel (Singapore), Sri Lanka Telecom, Telecom Egypt, Telekom Malaysia, Telin (Indonesia), Trans World Associates (Pakistan).
SEA-GUST provided assistance to SUBCOM, the company that was contracted by the SMW-6 consortium to drive the design, manufacture, and deployment of SEA-ME-WE 6 cable. The contract of SEA-GUST covers the Waters under the Jurisdiction of Algeria and Tunisia.

Metocean Study for Chergui gas export pipeline

Chergui is a producing conventional gas field located onshore Tunisia and is operated by Perenco Tunisia.
